Andrew was born in New York City on 12/18/77 and was proud of being a New Yorker. He moved to Minnesota in 1978. He graduated from Park Center High School, Brooklyn Park, MN; attended the College of St. Catherine’s Minnesota Campus; and graduated from MCTC Culinary Arts program. He held various culinary jobs in the Twin Cities and loved the variety his profession offered. He was a film enthusiast and a great storyteller. He was unable to work the last few years because of his heart problems. Andrew passed on March 8, 2024 surrounded by friends and family. 
He is survived and will be sorely missed by his mother, Diane McFarland, Aunt Beverly Gustafson, cousins Ann May (Scott Booth), Jean Reed, Bob Gustafson, Ellen (Nick), Caleb, Elizabeth, Nathan, Nora and Clara (Diego). He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Hanscom, his half-brother, Gerard, and his grandparents, Anna and Charles McFarland.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Church of St. Matthew’s, 510 Hall Ave St Paul, MN 55107 on Saturday, April 6 at 11:00. Visitation one hour prior from 10:00-11:00. Reception will follow Mass.
