Bruce Posthumus Obituary

Bruce Charles Posthumus age 66 of Rosemount, MN passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022 at his home.

Bruce was born to Gerald and Alice (Schultz) Posthumus on May 12, 1955 in Virginia, MN.  He attended school in Rochester, MN at Longfellow Elementary, Friedell Middle School, and Graduated in 1973 from Mayo High School. Following graduation, Bruce enlisted into the U.S. Air Force in Sept. 1973- where he received a Technical Degree and worked as an Avionic Communication Specialist and Radio Repairman.

He met Debra Matuseski and they were married March 1982 in Orange, CA and later divorced in 2001. That union was blessed with two daughters Tarah and Sheryl. He lived in Mendota Heights, MN with his wife and daughters, then later residing in Rosemount, MN.

After his military service, he began working as an Engineering Technical Specialist at Paramax - a Unisys Company, which later became Lockheed Martin. While working with the company he worked along side the US Postal Service as well as the US Military. He retired from the company when the plant in Eagan, MN closed in 2013.

He received his Private Pilot Certification in 2001 and continued to work on more certifications from there.  He was working on his Certified Flight Instructor Certificate before he passed away.

Bruce worked multiple security jobs in the metro and as a tax preparer for HR Block for a short time. He also worked at the St. Paul Downtown Airport and then found enjoyment joining the Civil Air Patrol and working at the FBO Lakeville. He also liked to attend and speak at Toastmasters Meetings.

Bruce was an excellent troubleshooter and was usually found fixing or tinkering with something. He liked working on clocks, engines and electronics the most. He also enjoyed flying his model airplanes and drones, camping, fishing, golfing, hunting, sunbathing, and visiting with his father. He liked his cars (especially his Pontiacs), and was passionate about flying.

He attended Bible Baptist Church and The Real Tree Church in Farmington.  Bruce was a man of knowledge, usually sharing a story or tidbit of information with anyone who would listen. He also had a goofy side and would let it loose here and there.

Time with Bruce will surely be missed.

He will be remembered by his two daughters Sheryl Posthumus, Tarah Posthumus and her Husband Andrew Erickson; his father Gerald Posthumus, grandchildren Luna Posthumus and Helix Erickson; one brother Ted Posthumus; one sister in law Evelyn Posthumus; nephew Jerry III Posthumus; and grand nephews Ethan and Owen Posthumus.
