James Peter Viere

James P. Viere, 73 years old of South St. Paul, MN

and his happy place in Webster WI, passed away on

September 24, 2023, peacefully after many courageous months of battling pancreatic cancer.  In the 4th quarter of the Vikings game he decided he had enough of both.  Preceded in death by his father Ferdinand Viere.  Survived by longtime partner, Colleen Lanahan, daughter Katie Bongard (Derek), son Eric Viere (Brooke), stepchildren Shannon Van Pelt (Kyle), Erin Niedorf (Aaron), Scott Lanahan (Angela).  Mother Lillian Viere, siblings Marlene Kazmierczak, Gloria Sirbasku (George), Karen Viere, Janet Jaworski (Craig) and grandchildren (Mara, Owen, Burke & Ava) along with many step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. 

His childhood and adolescence were filled with many wiffle ball, pickup hockey and broom ball games.  In adulthood, having Vikings tailgate parties in his garage were a fall highlight as well as deer and pheasant hunting.  Can’t forgot his many trophies for his horseshoe championships along with playing cribbage and being on dart and bowling leagues were always a fun part of his life.  In later years, spending long weekends and most of his summers in Webster, WI gave him much joy and happiness. He enjoyed playing golf in Webster with his friends he made over the years. 

A life cut too short but was filled with fun and laughter.
