Kathleen Harding Obituary

Kathleen Marion Harding, age 76 of Inver Grove Heights, MN passed away at home on Sunday, March 10, 2024.

Kathleen was born February 11, 1948 in Minneapolis, MN the oldest of 7 children to Lawrence W. and Theresa Davis. As a child growing up she enjoyed spending time with her siblings, cousins and working at her grandparent's Pet Shop. She would often talk about her grandpa Davis spending quality time with all the grandkids. She always told us that her grandfather was a wonderful man and she had wished he was around longer to see his great grandkids. She graduated from Robbinsdale Senior High School and married Stephen Harding. They had 3 children, Stephen in 1967, Peter in 1968 and Tamara Kay in 1971 before surprising everyone with a 4th child, her baby, Michael in 1986. She obtained her license from the School of Nursing in the early 70's as an LPN. She worked as a nurse for several years for different hospitals, nursing homes and the Ramsey County Detox Center.

Kathleen was a very patriotic woman.  She loved the US Marine Corps (She loved saying Semper FI) mostly due to her Mother's stories and experience in China involving the Marine's actions during WWII and relatives who served in the Marines including her father, brother Steve and her oldest son.  In 1985 without any warning, request, or knowledge by him personally, drove him straight to the Armed Forces Recruiting station on Snelling and University, walked him into the Marine Corps Recruiters office and said to him my son needs to get his life together. Well, mom got her way as she hoped and a few months later he was a Marine and went on to get his life together. (Thanks Mom).

Kathleen's biggest joy was her family. She loved her parents and siblings unconditionally. She enjoyed visiting her mom in Robbinsdale with her siblings and their families, during Christmas when her dad would come to pass out gifts to everyone. Like her own mother was to her children, Kathleen was the glue that bonded her family. Being a Mom to her children was her heart and soul and she would do anything for anyone of them without hesitation. In her later years she enjoyed life playing bingo, nickel slots at the casino, facebook games, getting visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren while living with and being cared for by her daughter Tamara Kay.

In her final few days she was resting peacefully at home with her 4 children by her side eating lots of the Russian dish of Pelmeni, saying the Lord's prayer with her kids and continuously telling them she loves them, visiting and talking with her grandkids, great grandkids, siblings, nephew and friends, watching her favorite movie "We were Soldiers" which very surprisingly didn't have anything to do with the Marine Corps and how happy she was that her mom having told her that she would waiting for her at Heavens gates when Jesus brings her home. Kathleen was always a very strong, devoted, nurturing, caring, and loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Wife, Daughter, Granddaughter, Sister, Aunt and Friend to many and she will forever and always be in our hearts.

She is survived by her loving children Stephen (Lisa) Columbia Heights, MN, Peter (Colleen) Pace, FL., Tamara Kay (Rodney Jr.) Inver Grove Heights, MN. and Michael of Inver Grove Heights, MN, (9) Grandkids, Molly, Nicholas, Jennifer, Nakia, Rodney III, Caleb, Christopher, Marissa and Zachery and (12) Great Grandchildren, Christina, Jaymond, Lauren, Kalden, Harlow, Rylee, Jaxson, Lucy, Colbie, RJ, Rodney IV and Kameron. Siblings, Natalie, Margurette, Steven, Theresa, Lawrence, Gregory, Nephews, Richard, Dennis, Jason, Kristopher, Aaron, Justin, Alex, Niece, Andrea.

She is preceded in death by her Parents Lawerence W. and Tatiana Theresa Davis, Grandparents Wesley Clark and Marion Ethel Davis and Peter Shumsky, Nephew Joseph Brandon Field
