Marcella Miller Obituary

Marcella M. Miller “Marci”

Marci gained her wings on April 28, 2022 with family by her side.

She was born in St Paul to Wilmer “Bud” and Ida Hawk on October 6, 1954 as the second child of four girls , and resided on the East Side of St. Paul. She was also a 1972 graduate of St. Paul Johnson High School.
Marci married Francis Miller Sr (Sonny) in 1973, in which they had 2 children together Tonja and Francis Jr (Frankie), and later called the West End of St Paul their home. Although they divorced in the early 1990s, they remained very close friends until his passing in 2014.
Marci was an entrepreneur of all sorts, mostly self employed during her life from flea markets and antique stores, to daycare and foster care. She spent many years caring for critically ill and special needs children as a treatment foster parent, later to adopt several of those children she cared for as her own. She had the most caring and sensitive personality on top of her creative and crafting abilities. She was kind, loving, and accepting of all and was always ready to lend a listening ear without judgement. She would often pass on her witty humor with the only intention of making someone laugh.
After losing her only biological son Frank Jr, and living most of her life in St Paul, she sold her family home of 25+ years and relocated to Hinckley, MN for a quieter life. She purchased a historical building with her daughter, Tonja, known as the “Grindstone Lodge” where she raised her adopted children and resided for the last 19 years.
She loved being a devoted grandma to all girls, they were the apple of her eye. She also had many local friends that she enjoyed  spending time with as well, frequenting many of the local establishments for a cup
of coffee or tea to satisfy her social needs.
As a proud Libra she stayed fascinated in astrology and numbers, and as a lifelong learner, she sought out the new trends and social media avenues to perfect her craft, gaining so much excitement sharing new ideas and techniques, often gifting her creations to friends and family.
Her love of old school country music, especially Randy Travis and Alan Jackson could not be matched. Her laugh, and even voice, would fill the room and was recognized anywhere. She never missed a good home cooked meal, and loved trying new restaurants with her family. Marci will be greatly missed. Her free spirit will live on forever in all of us, and knowing her, she will leave little signs to remind us she’s still here.

Marci was survived by her Mother Ida, Daughter Tonja (Wayne); granddaughters Adrianne (Marissa), Maia, and Tierra, and Brittney (Jeremy) also adopted children Coco, Octavia, Janiqua, Quamari, Crystal, and Ziggy along with many other family and friends.
Marci is preceded in death by her son Frank Jr, ex husband Sonny Miller, father Bud Hawk, Sister Pam Kuester, Sister Cindy Rusnak and many other family members.
