Marie Rose Galvin Obituary

On June 10 th , 2022, Valérie Galvin passed away peacefully at home following a long journey from brain cancer.

May she now rest in peace and be an inspiration for us all. Valérie passes as a loving wife, granddaughter, daughter, and niece.  Valérie was born on September 5 th , 1991, in Quatre Bornes, Mauritius. She studied at the University of Mauritius and worked at Medine prior to emigrating to Minneapolis in June of 2016. On September 24 th , 2016, she married Robert Galvin in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Valérie aspired to be an occupational therapist to help children.  Valérie was a happy, bubbly, kind spirit who was curious, eager, joyful, adventurous, and courageous. Her loud and happy laugh, sincere smile, and genuinely beautiful soul made an impact on all our lives. Valérie was remarkable for always searching for and bringing out the best in people and going out of her way to make people comfortable. Valérie had a profound love of music and sought out the beauty in the world around her. Throughout Valérie’s cancer journey, she inspired and touched countless people including her healthcare team, her friends, and other people living with cancer who she made a point to support. Despite her burdens, Valérie lived with inner peace and could instinctively create warmth and inspire well being in those who were burdened themselves. Wherever Valérie ventured, from schools and organizations to parks and nature to festivals to groups encompassing arts, faith, altruism and more, and to places in the world near and far, Valerie was a beam of light. She was and continues to be an angel.

Valérie will be missed with intense soreness and heartbreak yet will be a star and guiding light for her loved ones, remaining a source of deep inspiration and outflowing joy for
all she graced.  Valérie is survived by her husband Robert Galvin, parents in-law Christina and Thomas Galvin, and many cherished friends, members of her healthcare team, mentors, and loved ones; her parents Alexandra Retournée and Patrice Consens; her grandmother Sybille Retournée and great uncle Désiré Papie; her aunts and uncles Bianca Retournée, Nicole Zaire, Armand Retournée, Maisy and Vincent Froidbise-Retournee, Armanda and Jean-Pierre Arnaud, and Daïlain Retournée; her cousins Alexandre, Sylvain, Jerome, Elodie F., Francoise (Marcelle, Amélie), Danielle (Elodie and Elise G.), Rebecca (Rashard, Elijah), Jonathan, Stephen, Xavier, and Tricia (Jules); Also her two furry companions Kitty and Minou who gave her joy and comfort.
