Mark Douglas Watson (68) of Lakeville, MN, went to be with His Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, October 2, 2021 and was buried Monday, October 4th. After several years of struggling with respiratory and circulatory difficulties he is now in his eternal home with Jesus. Though we will greatly miss him, we rejoice with him, and look forward with anticipation to God’s plan for each of our lives - and seeing “the passing of the baton” to the next generation.
Mark grew up near Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He married at 24 to the joy of his life, Joanne, and they had nine children together. Raising a family to love the Lord with all their hearts was important to him and he made it a point to read the Bible nearly every night as a family. Mark was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, a committed and loving husband, and a steady father and grandfather. His calmness and consistency greatly impacted our lives!
He had a career that varied between cabinet-making, construction, computers, and – in retirement – ride share driving. He enjoyed stock car racing, volleyball, learning about real estate investing, and praising the Lord. He taught all nine of his children to play the guitar, inspiring and encouraging their love of music. He was logical, practical and handy. He could fix almost anything, and was very patient explaining to others how things worked and how to fix them.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Doug and Shirley Watson, and siblings, Phillip, Sharon, Andy and Christie. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Steven Watson and their nine children - Misty (Cuong) Chau, Steven, Kelly (Alfredo) Peralta, David (Natalie), Joe, Chris, Isaac (Rebecca), Brian and Ruth; along with their 13 grandchildren - Noah, Fiona, Olivia, Malachi, Toni, Faith, Abbyelle, Jedidiah, Kate, Violet, Ethan, Ruby and Nancy; and his siblings - Marie Ballard, Barb (Allen) Nicholson, Stan (Laurie) and Dawn (Ken) Splittstoesser, as well as a large extended family.
The memorial service will be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-juQw3J98I. Our family has been tremendously blessed by all the care and kindness we have received. Thank you!!
