Age 70 of South Saint Paul
Passed away unexpectedly on June 2, 2023. Preceded in death by parents Mac & Alice;
brothers Cliff, Bob, Ron, and Joe; sister Maxine. Survived by siblings Rosie, Jenny, Geri Sullivan,
Judy, and Lucy Burger and many other family & friends.
Mike was born November 12, 1952 in Forest Lake, MN and grew up on a farm near Hastings,
Minnesota with 10 siblings. He was mechanically inclined from a young age and good with his
hands. He took apart radios that he received as Christmas gifts to understand how they worked.
He also loved playing softball and would often reminisce about past games with his brothers.
He graduated from Hastings High School in 1970. He started work at JCPenney as a tv repair
man. He then went to school to become an Electrician. He completed most of the program but
decided to instead take a role at the Post Office as a mechanic fixing machines on the assembly
line. He still used his Electrician skills to help out his siblings, including doing the electrical work
for his brother’s entire house.
Mike maintained a strong desire to learn throughout his entire life and had a drive to know what
was true. He loved doing research at the library and he was well versed in history. From memory
he could recite the presidents in order.
Mike loved the outdoors and went on many camping and hunting trips with family and friends.
Through his whole life he liked to stay active with hockey, biking, skiing, and tennis.
Mike will be remembered for his humble, authentic, and honest nature and for being a great
listener.
Visitation 12 PM June 7, 2023 at Summit Funeral Home and Cremation, 6415 Carmen Ave, Inver
Grove Heights. Burial 2 PM at Prairie Oaks Memorial Gardens at 8225 Argenta Trail, Inver Grove
Heights.
