Mitchell “Mitch” Joseph Giese, age 59, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 6, 2023 at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN.
Mitch was born on May 9, 1964 in Minneapolis, MN to Ted and Rita (Moritko) Giese. He graduated in 1982 from Anoka Senior High School and went on to play football at Vermilion Community College in Ely, MN and then attended the UW La Crosse. After college his nurturing heart led him to become a personal care attendant at several care facilities and then a live-in caregiver to Jim Skaalerud until his passing in 1995.
He married Natalie (Robertson) in 1997 and raised three children in Hastings, MN. He worked as a master plumber at Metropolitan Mechanical Contractors in Minneapolis for the last 17 years.
Mitch had many good childhood memories of adventures in Northern Minnesota. Fishing, chopping wood and poison ivy all bring back vivid memories to our family. He liked to cook and enjoyed a good movie but he cared for his children above all. He was an amazing dad who instilled the importance of family to his children by attending family get-togethers, cooking grand holiday meals and sending unpolished selfies that have now been deemed priceless.
He is survived by his wife, Natalie, sons Hayden and Wyatt, daughter Sydney (significant other Eduardo), grandchildren Theo and Violet, mother Rita, siblings Cori, Ted (Kay) and Mark (Stephanie), many nieces and nephews and his faithful four-legged companion, Oliver.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ted Giese, and mother-in-law, Linda Robertson.
Mitch will be sadly missed. His humor and sarcasm will always hold a special place in our hearts. We invite you to come and honor his life with us. The memorial will be held on Sunday, October 22nd, 2023 from 1-4pm, at Summit Funeral & Cremation in Inver Grove Heights, MN.
