Monalisa Xiong Obituary

Monalisa "Mona" or "Lisa" Xiong, 40; born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 31, 1981; and who resided in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, passed away September 9, 2021, at Regions Hospital in Saint Paul surrounded by her family after a three year battle with lung cancer.
She is survived by her life partner, Allen Halverson; her son, Alex Vang; her mother Xee Vang and father Yeng Xiong; Her siblings, Leslie Yang(Ye), Nhia Xiong(Baljit Singh), Seu Xiong(Seng Lor), John Xiong(Hong), Sue Xiong, Gyer Xiong, Jacie Xiong(Nou Yang), Holly Xiong, Jennifer Xiong, Kong Xiong, and Steve Xiong; as well as all of her beloved nieces and nephews who will miss their Auntie Mona dearly.
Monalisa was that bright ray of sunshine that lit up every space she entered with a dazzling smile to match. She enjoyed hosting gatherings in her home with Allen and Alex and spending time with friends and family whom she lived for.  She embodied the phrase "stop and smell the roses" and had a gift for bringing that out in those around her as we should all take the time to enjoy the simpler things in life as she did.  She was artistic and created many stunning works of art mainly to be shared with loved ones.  She also loved to go on adventures in her home of Minnesota from the exciting like ziplining, inner tubing, enjoying the sights and tastes at the Renaissance Festival or the seemingly mundane like apple picking or going for walks at the park with her dog Buford("Booboo" to her).  She had a special place in her heart for the North Shore where she made many fond memories with Allen.  She will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her but her touch on our lives will last a lifetime.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 14th from 4pm-8pm at Inver Hills Church 8265 Babcock Trail, Inver Grove Heights, MN 55077, and again on Friday, October 15th from 9am-12pm at Inver Hills Church.  Service will start at 12pm ending with a final prayer before leaving at 1:30pm to Acacia Park Cemetery 2151 Pilot Knob Rd, St Paul, MN 55120.  Celebration of Life to follow afterwards at the Embassy Suites 7901 34th Ave South, Bloomington, MN 55425.
