Remedios Arevalo Jovellana

Remedios Trabanco Arevalo Jovellana, 99 years old, passed away on April 28, 2021. She was known by her loved ones as a simple, quiet, loving, and religious woman. 

Remy was born on September 8, 1921 to Sergia Cecilia and Nicolas Arevalo in Bariis, Legazpi City, Albay, Philippines. Remy graduated from St. Agnes Academy in 1942. Following WWII, she moved to Manila, where she went on to study accounting at Far Eastern University. 

After graduation, she worked at the Government Service Insurance System in Manila. It was there that she met and fell in love with Apolinar Jovellana. They were married on December 28, 1946 and went on to have seven children. 

In 1976, the Jovellana family immigrated to St. Paul, MN, where Remy worked at 3M Company for 16 years. Remy was predeceased by her husband, Apolinar. She is survived by Apolinar (Lori), Mario (Agnes), Roberto (Evelyn), Jose, Emily (Michael), Rodolfo (Michelle), and Susan; nine grandchildren: Jamie, Tricia, Kristen, Michael, Stephen, Courtney, Jenna, Nikki, Nathan; and four great-grandchildren: Juliana, Elyana, Aidan, and Liam.

A Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 6th at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in St. Paul, MN at 10am. Remy will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights, MN.
