Richard Joseph Smith, age 85 of Cottage Grove passed away on Monday, July 13th, 2020.

Richard was a long time member of Rose of Sharon Church in Cottage Grove, MN. He was employed by National Checking for 46 years and 8 months.
He attained the rank of 10th degree black belt in Shorin Ryu Karate and earned many championship awards and medals.

He is preceded in death by wife Marilyn, son Richard Jr., and grandson Ben's wife Hanna. Brothers Roland, Robert, Ruby and Shirley.

He will be remembered by his Son Randy and his wife Jody. Grandsons Ben, Joe, Trevor and Corey. Great Grandsons Lydia, Edgar and Owen. Brother-in-Law David Kadous and his wife Kay. Nieces Kelly and Debbie. Sister-in-Law Eileen Herbert. Niece Dawn Cass and nephew Tony Herbert.

He will be greatly missed by family, friends and fellow martial artists.

Private family burial will take place at the Cottage Grove Cemetery.
