April 30, 1950 ~ January 16, 2023 (age 72) 72 Years Old

Obituary

Wayne Dennis Nylin, age 72, was born in Annandale, Minnesota, on April 30, 1950, to Emil and Elaine Nylin.  He was the third of four siblings…Paul, Michael, and Joel.  Growing up he enjoyed sports and excelled in wrestling.  He graduated from Annandale High School in 1968.  Wayne went to Bemidji State College and graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education.  He met his wife, Nancy Texer, while attending college.  They were married on October 23, 1976.  They have two sons, Steve and Matt, who are both married and blessed them with six grandchildren (five granddaughters and one grandson).  Wayne loved playing golf, bicycle riding with Nancy, carpentry, working with his sons on home projects, and playing and spending time with his family.  Wayne was an elementary school teacher for forty-two years in: Scranton, North Dakota; Ada and Borup Minnesota; Atlanta, Georgia and Eagan, Minnesota. He loved to teach! He retired in 2016.

Wayne loved the Lord Jesus and served Him faithfully while actively involved in church ministries.  Over the years he taught Sunday school, served as a deacon, loved to be a greeter, led small group Bible studies in his home, and with his servant’s heart, he was willing to do whatever needed to be done.  Wayne and Nancy went with a team from church to Poland in 2004 where they enjoyed coming alongside and helping with a church plant.  Wayne had the joy, love and peace of the Lord in his heart.

In February of 2019, Wayne broke his leg which eventually led to the diagnosis of multiple myeloma.  This began a four year journey of treatments including a bone marrow transplant in July of that year and was in remission for a period of time.  In October of 2021, it was discovered that the multiple myeloma had relapsed.  After a courageous battle, the Lord called Wayne home to heaven on January 16, 2023, where he is now healed and whole.  Special thanks and appreciation for great care and support go to Regions Cancer Center and HealthPartners Hospice Care Team.

Wayne is survived by his wife Nancy, sons Stephen (Jennifer) and Matthew (Jessica), and six grandchildren: Taylor and Addison; Charli, Elijah, Gwynnlee, and Essi; brothers Michael (Joyce); Joel (Dawn); sister-in-law Bonnie Nylin; half-sister Adeline Mauer; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary Texer and Mark Voerding, and many nieces and nephews.  Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Emil and Elaine (Kantola) Nylin; brother Paul Nylin; half-brothers William and Donald Nylin; half-sister and brother-in-law Rosella and Herb Trettevik; and brother-in-law Douglas Mauer.
